Horizontal dam-break flow past a blocking-drag region

A one-dimensional model framework of unsteady free-surface flow through a blocking-drag region is developed, tested, and applied to understand the dam-break past rectangular building. This achieved by studying steady-state, adjustment response region. Three steady regimes are identified based on Froude number upstream downstream region: subcritical state, choked state with subcritical-supercritical transition, supercritical state. The interaction between can be mostly understood from quasi-steady analysis using variation time, comparing scatter plots against curve. force time-series depends height precursor layer position relative lock-length. provides considerable insight into types characteristics observed at low/high numbers goes some way clarifying relationship drag properties.
